About PATH Academy

We are passionate about specialized teaching methods & exemplary strategies integrated with mindfulness practices.

There are simple but effective things we can do together to build a space for your child to thrive

In the beginning

The seeds of PATH began in 1992 when Miss Eliana, PATH’s founder, was a social worker in the Clarke County School District in Athens, Georgia. For four years, she served five elementary schools, as well as two community centers located in the Athens Housing Authority. Miss Eliana worked closely with principals, teachers and community leaders to assist children and their families concerning issues of social-emotional learning (SEL), apathy, low academic performance, depression, and sedentary lifestyles. Her curriculum utilized one of the first Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL)-based programs.

  • These issues faced by children and their families resulted in lack of self-esteem and personal accountability, poor critical thinking skills, and discontentment. By 1994 Miss Eliana created systems implementing universal ethical principles while engaging in her own daily contemplative practices; she needed to personally understand and integrate a “be the change” philosophy to experience how compassion and serving others brings meaning to one’s life. She proved to herself that this purposeful way of living is the main source to self-worth, resilience and true happiness. It was then that Miss Eliana committed to bringing these universal truths to all children.
